Calculated Values

After customization is done, all your Aspect, Combat Value, and Skill ranks are set. The last step is to determine a few more things about your character based on some of those numbers.

STUN and LETHAL

STUN and LETHAL are two more numerical values that help make up a character.

STUN types of damage are non-lethal. If a character loses all his STUN damage, he is simply beaten into submission for a short while, unable to adequately attack or defend himself. STUN represents bodily harm done with fists, weapons, or direct damage effects and well as damage to the mind and psyche. STUN damage is recovered at a very fast rate, especially if a person withdraws from combat.

LETHAL damage can be thought up as more serious, life-threatening damage, injuries that will kill a person if they are severe enough. When a person’s LETHAL total drops to zero, he immediately goes unconscious. If he drops under zero, he will begin bleeding to death and unless he receives some form of outside aid, he will die. LETHAL damage is very slow to recover.

One way to get an idea of how STUN and LETHAL work in conjunction with one another is to think of a pro-wrestling match. The two wrestlers beat the living snot out of one another for long periods of time. They’ll occasionally back off from one another, trying to catch their breath. Eventually, one of them finally does enough “damage” so that his foe can no longer kick out and he gets the pin.

That is how STUN and LETHAL work. STUN is lost quickly but quickly recovered as well, like a wrestler getting his second wind. LETHAL damage, on the other hand, will determine the true winner of the fight.

Recovery of STUN and LETHAL are discussed in detail in the Combat chapter.

STUN

The base value for STUN is your Endurance [[E]] multiplied by 8.

You can increase this by having the Tough as Nails Advantage or by increasing [EE] or [IE].

LETHAL

The base value for LETHAL is equal to Endurance [[E]] + 8.

Size

A person’s Size is an abstract representation of the person’s height and weight. It will modify rolls to hit you in combat as smaller creatures as more difficult to hit, but larger creatures have bonuses for other Aspects. This is discussed in detail in the Combat chapter.

Size for a human is always assumed to be Medium.
